Texarkana’s Favorite Kangaroo Rocky Spreading Smiles With His New Fame
A couple of months ago we all heard the news about a kangaroo named Rocky that was out at Spring Lake Park. We found out what Rocky has been up to and it looks like he's been busy spreading cheer all around the Texarkana area.
We had the chance to have Rocky and his wonderful owners Lance and Amber Hammonds come up to the station for a visit. Needless to say, I was super excited.
Rocky is so incredibly sweet and gentle. Oh, and his fur is so soft. You just can't help but fall in love with him.
Lance recently texted me with an update on Rocky and what he has been up to.
Rocky has been busy spreading smiles all over Texarkana and surrounding areas. Lance has taken Rocky to visit kids at schools in the area.
A few weeks ago Rocky was off to visit the residents at the Bentley Rehabilitation Center. Oh, the smiles Rocky got there!
It looks like Rocky is having fun and bringing joy to people with his newfound fame.
You can follow Rocky on Instagram at #RockyRoo2024 and keep up with all his adventures.
Lance and Amber told us so many cool facts about Kangaroos. Not only were they interesting but Lance and Amber also cleared up any misconception that kangaroos are aggressive.
Kangaroos can get aggressive if they are in the wild, mainly because they are fighting for the attention of female roos or fighting off male roos for that female. But a single kangaroo in captivity is socialized and has no idea about fighting or vying for the females.
We also learned that a Kangaroo's sweat is red. Rocky loves to snack on banana chips and Apple Jack's cereal.
Of course one of my favorite photos of Rocky is when he came up to the station for a visit and was wearing an 'I Heart Lisa' t-shirt. Talk about melting my heart!
Let us know if and when you see Rocky around town! We'd love to hear about all the smiles Rocky brings to everyone!
