
Celebrate Culture & Community at Hispanic Heritage Month Festival
Texarkana College is gearing up for a fiesta celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual festival on Tuesday, September 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
2025 Hispanic Heritage Month Festival - Texarkana
The event will take place in the field between the Administration Building and the Business and Computer Technology Center. The festival cordially invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to enjoy a celebration of Hispanic heritage, food, music, and traditions.
This event is free and open to the public and is being organized in part by the Texarkana College Hispanic Student Association.
“This festival is a chance to celebrate the richness of Hispanic culture and share it with the entire TC community,” said Brandi Chavez, TC Academic Records Specialist and HSA Co-Advisor.
“We are proud to honor our heritage through food, music, and traditions that bring people together.”

NOTE: FREE chips and salsa and FREE tacos for the first 100 students, courtesy of Juanito’s Food Truck.
• Games, live music, candy, and prizes for all ages.

• Lively crowd-favorite grito competition
What is a Grito Competition?
In the Hispanic culture, it is part cheer, part howl. Contestants belt out their loudest, proudest cries to commemorate the historical 1810 Grito de Delores. It's the cry that launched the Mexican War of Independence, and expresses national pride through deep emotions of joy, pain, and sorrow.
Other Attractions at the Hispanic Heritage Month Festival
Other attractions include a salsa contest, bounce houses, snow cones, popcorn, candy, and giveaways. Free T-shirts will also be available while supplies last
Local vendors will offer Hispanic foods and handmade goods, and attendees are encouraged to bring cash for shopping.
