Texarkana residents and drivers traveling on I-30 westbound have found it frustrating with all the continued road construction. Drivers, take note: some new safety measures are rolling in this week.
Road Crews Adding Contrast Striping to a Section of I-30 West This Week
TxDOT is ramping up efforts for safety improvements due to the recent rash of accidents that occur frequently on the busiest highway through Texarkana.
Road crews will begin adding contrast striping to a section of I-30 this week. TxDot is hoping the striping will enhance visibility and safety in the construction zone area.
According to a TxDot press release, the new striping will be placed on the westbound side of I-30 just east of Summerhill Road, where the traffic splits. Traffic will be down to one lane while the black and white markings are added for more visibility and recognition of lane guidance.

Slow Down and Pay Attention to Road Signs and Message Boards
Drivers should pay attention to road signs and message boards and slow down while traveling through the construction work zone. Not only are you putting yourself at risk for death, but construction workers as well who work close to the highway.

Speed Limit Has Been Reduced in Road Construction Work Zones
Recently, the Texarkana, Texas Police Department has dropped the speed limit on I-30 between Stateline Avenue and Kings Highway to 60 miles per hour. Drivers are also encouraged to take the service roads for smoother traffic flow.
