Beat Bobby Flay is a popular show on the Food Network where two talented chefs compete against one another, whichever chef wins that part of the competition they go on to challenge America's Iron Chef Bobby Flay in a cookoff.

Chef Josh won the first part of the competition over Chef Vicky Colas so he got to pick the food choice, "Jerk Chicken" as the challenge. Bobby had to cook the same dish that celebrity judges sampled, based on taste, authenticity, and originality, the best dish wins the competition and beats Bobby Flay in his culinary skills. The episode was titled, Loud and Proud, and featured guest chefs, Josh Elliott and Vicky Colas and judges Chef Antonia Lofaso and Leslie Jones.

Chef Josh was born in Texarkana, and raised in Cabot, Arkansas he now lives, works, and has a restaurant in Miami, Florida. I was hoping they would give more of a backstory on him but the show is only 30 minutes so that would be somewhat hard to do.

Josh Elliott has lived in Miami for years now, he's learned all about the culture there and what kind of island spices go into what he feels is the best Jerk Chicken around. The celebrity judges seemed to like that he used the tropical fruit plantain, a part of the banana family that has a much thicker skin with a different texture as a part of the dish, while Bobby used pineapple in his dish.

After the judges sampled each dish they discussed which jerk chicken was the best, Bobby's or Josh's, it was close but Josh Elliott was crowned the winner. He was so excited but humbled to beat someone he idolized and was influenced by when he decided to get into the culinary art of cooking.

Meanwhile, his mother Becky, and the family were glued to the TV last night awaiting the results to see if Josh had what it took to Beat Bobby Flay in front of a national TV audience.

In a Facebook post, she was seen jumping for joy as her son's name was called out as the winner of Beat Bobby Flay.

Congratulations to Josh Elliott and his mother too!
