The annual Kicker Cup City Championship trophy will be residing for the next year at Texas High.

The Tigers have wrapped up the championship even before the end of the regular season. In fact, this is probably the earliest winner in the 21 years we have been awarding the trophy.

Texas High actually secured the title after their week six victory. The Tigers are now 7-0 heading into this Friday's game. Even though they have won the Kicker Cup City Championship, the team will have to wait just a little while to put their hands on the trophy.

The radio station will attend the Tigers first playoff pep rally at the Texas High Campus in November and award the trophy to Head Coach Barry Norton and his team.

The traveling trophy is given each year to the Texarkana high school football team which finishes the regular season with the best overall record. Arkansas High, Liberty-Eylau, Pleasant Grove, and Texas High compete each year for the championship.

Congratulations to the Tigers and good luck to all the Texarkana teams as we head toward playoff time.

The Kicker Cup City Championship trophy is donated and engraved by Rogers Trophy and is presented to the winning team by the radio station and KKYR.com, along with our sponsor Red River Credit Union.
