A new study says that drinking two or more cups of coffee a day may reduce the risk of depression in women.

Keyword: MAY.

The study, which is published in the Sept. 26 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, included more than 50,000 women in the United States and showed those who drank 2-3 cups of caffeinated coffee per day were 15% less likely to develop depression over a 10 year period.

Researchers caution that the study only shows an association, not that coffee drinking actually reduces the risk of developing depression.

Apparently, coffee has other health benefits as well including:

  • It protects against Breast Cancer
  • Wards Off Strokes
  • Reduces Risk of Diabetes
  • Improves Brain Function
  • Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk

So, have a cup of Joe and feel better! But not too much though. The safe daily dosage of caffeine is 300 milligrams for adults and 35 to 40 milligrams a day for children, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).  Drinking too much coffee could lead to headaches, jitters and a racing heartbeat.

On a side note: whenever anyone asks Lisa or myself how we get up every morning and do our show and sound so perky.. our answer is always the same.. COFFEE.. and lots of it.. :)

How many cups of coffee do you drink each day? What's your favorite brand??
