Dr Jenny Walker Named Director of Leadership Texarkana

The Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce has welcomed Dr. Jenny McCormack Walker as the new Director of Leadership Texarkana.

Walker joined the Chamber team July 1 as Leadership Texarkana begins a new chapter under the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

In her new role, Walker will lead efforts to develop community leaders while expanding opportunities for leadership development and community engagement throughout the Texarkana region.

Experienced Community Leader

Walker brings more than 20 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, higher education, workforce development, and community engagement.

She holds a Doctor of Education and Master of Education from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of North Texas.

Walker was selected for Leadership Texas in 2025 and represented Texas through the Coalition on Adult Basic Education’s State Advocates for Adult Education Fellowship in 2024. She was also named the 2023 Arkansas Literacy Council Director of the Year.

Before joining the Chamber, Walker held executive leadership positions with Literacy Texas and the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties. She has also served as an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

Building on Leadership Texarkana’s Legacy

As Director of Leadership Texarkana, Walker will oversee leadership programming, alumni engagement, professional development, community partnerships, and the program’s continued growth.

“Leadership Texarkana has always been about recognizing the potential within our community and giving people the tools, relationships, and opportunities to turn that potential into meaningful action,” Walker said.

Chamber President and CEO Robin Hickerson said Walker will help strengthen connections between leadership development, business, workforce, and community advancement across the region.

Tunnel 2 Towers Steel Across America - Texarkana Stop - June 3, 2026

On the 25th anniversary year of 9/11, this steel beam from the Twin Towers in New York that fell on September 11, 2001, is a must-see. The ceremony was very well done and featured short speeches from both Texarkana Mayors and Fire Chiefs. I know many in attendance weren't even alive when the attack happened 25 years ago, but for those of us who remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the planes struck the towers, it was an amazing thing to see and touch.
