It's December and many of you have already started decorating around the house or business, what about the car? Do you think it's illegal to decorate or wrap your car with Christmas lights?

The answer to that is simple, unless you are planning on participating in a lighted Christmas parade it is ILLEGAL in most U.S. states including Texas and Arkansas.

Don't mean to sound like The Grinch but putting Christmas lights on a vehicle and driving on a major highway is not only dangerous but a distraction for other drivers.

Flashing Lights

The only flashing lights permitted are the turn signal or hazard flashing light any others are illegal.

Light Colors

Only white lights visible on the front or amber lights visible from the rear of the vehicle are permitted any others are illegal.

Backup Lamps

Vehicles can have up to two backup lamps, separately or combined.

Light Intensity

Any vehicle with a light brighter than 300 candlepower is not permitted to drive on a public road within 75 feet of a vehicle.

Number of Lights

No more than two ornamental white light-emitting diodes are allowed on the front of the vehicle.

Again, a sanctioned Christmas parade or if your vehicle is parked on private property are the only exceptions.
