A DeKalb Police Officer was shot in the leg and the suspect killed by return gun fire after authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call.

DeKalb, Texas police report that a female Dekalb officer and a Bowie County Deputy had responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 200 block of Pecan Street around 1 a.m. Monday. When officers arrived the homeowner shot the Dekalb Officer in the leg. The officers returned fire and the homeowner was killed. The Dekalb police officer was transported to a hospital in Texarkana, and has been released. Dekalb Police Chief Shawn Walraven says that his officer his fine, and is now recovering at home.
