Barbecue lovers get ready! The Marine Corps League Detachment 1149 is inviting everyone to the 2nd Annual Wesley Burris Barbecue Cookoff on Saturday, August 15, for a full day of great food, friendly competition, and community spirit.

The cookoff begins at 10 AM at VFW Post 4562, located at 4700 E. Ninth Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. Whether you're a barbecue pitmaster or simply enjoy eating it, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Competition, Awards, and Great Food

Cook teams will compete in three categories: chicken, beef, and pork. Awards will be presented for first, second, and third place in each category, along with Best Overall and the always-popular People's Choice Award.

Only 15 competitor spots are available, and registration is first come, first served for those ready to put their barbecue to the test.

This is the fun part: the public can get a tasting ticket for only $10. This ticket will allow you to sample the entries and cast your vote for the People's Choice winner.

Special Guest Judge

Adding to the excitement, special guest judge Kountry Boy Kev will be on hand to help crown this year's barbecue champions.
