Meet Anthony Price: Texarkana’s Newest Country Music Artist
Have you heard there's a 16-year-old from Texarkana who has been turning heads at his local high school and around town with his love of country music?
His name is Anthony Price of Texarkana a 10th grader attending Texas High School, and his love for country music began at an early age. When he was around 11 he developed a love for the guitar as most young musicians do but it wasn't until he turned 12 that he began to appreciate his true love of country music. One of his biggest influences was his grandfather who played in a band during that time and would take little Anthony to watch the band perform. Anthony can remember sitting on the edge of the stage with his guitar trying to play along with the band.
Fast Forward
Fast forward 16 years, Price has formed his very own band The Southern Front Band, and has started playing at local venues around the area.
The Band
Anthony Price - Guitar and Vocals
Billy Roberts - Piano
Milam Albright - Bass
Bryan Sellers - Drums
Jim Smith - lead Guitar
His grandfather already had connections with other musicians and artists and that has helped the young artist make new friends and develop him into the singer-songwriter that he has become today.
Some of his musical influences besides his grandfather include legendary icons, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., and George Strait just to name a few. His band loves playing the country classics especially when they perform at the VFW in Texarkana, Arkansas, Bossier City, Louisiana, and Paris, Texas along with playing at the Elk's Lodge in Texarkana, Arkansas. You can also hear his music at Betty's Big Country Dance Hall, private parties, and other local venues.
Original Songs
Price has released two original songs which are available on all streaming platforms "Honky Tonk Neon," and "Til I've Cried Every Tear," which is giving him the recognition he rightfully deserves.
The well-spoken polite 16-year-old recently had an interview with KTAL 6 and believes that country music keeps evolving but there still needs to be a base that's rooted in traditional country music for musicians like himself to develop and draw inspiration from.
The sky's the limit for this young man who had a dream when he was just a boy and is following his dream to be a successful country singer for the long haul. Being able to do what he loves in his hometown with his grandfather's support, his faith, and the love of his family and friends is like icing on the cake.
Recently, Anthony performed at the John Ritter Showcase at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, Texas where he placed second runner-up in the competition. He was thrilled to meet the MC and stage presence of country music artist, Linda Davis.
