Miller County Sheriff’s Office Warns Public of New Scam
The Miller County Sheriff's Office is warning the public of a new scam that they have become aware of over the past few days.
According to a press release from the MCSO, they have received several reports saying someone is calling people and saying that they are with the Miller County Sheriff's Office. The caller then informs the person that there is a warrant out for their arrest and that they need to go ahead and pay the fines to stop the arrest.
The caller may also say,
There is a legal matter involving you that has come across our desk that needs to be addressed.
Two of the names these scammers are using that the authorities know of are 'Cheif Deputy Dale Hawthorne and Leon Parker. ' There could be more names that they are using.
Please remember that the Miller County Sheriff's Office does not and has never called someone about a fine for warrants. Do not give any of your financial information out to this caller.
If you do receive a call like this you can call the MCSO at (870) 774-3001 and report it.
The MCSO says that if you think you might have a warrant you can call them and find out. They will not call you.
