Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp was in Texarkana today to talk about what's ahead for the local campus at Bringle Lake.Sharp sees a bright future as the local branch of the university continues its downward expansion. Sharp also introduced the interim President of Texas A&M University-Texarkana to the faculty and staff as well as the local media.

Dr. Keith McFarland has taken over for Dr. C.B. Rathburn who turned in a letter of resignation late last week. McFarland has spent previous time in the A&M System at Commerce, Texas.

Chancellor Sharp says a selection committee is being chosen which will include A&M Leadership as well as local community leaders to choose a permanent replacement for Dr. Rathburn. The university hopes to have someone in place before the end of the year in time for the all important Texas Legistlative Session which begins in January.

Chancellor Sharp declined to discuss the reasons behind Dr. Rathburns resignation leaving that to Rathburn himself.
