Covid-19 strikes again as New Boston High School officials have decided to cancel the next two football games due to some of the players testing positive for COVID-19.

The games canceled are tonight's (Friday, September 11 game against Hooks High School and the September 18th game against Redwater as well. The hope is to have all players healthy and well for the start of their district games which begins September 21.

In a heartfelt letter, the was posted on the New Boston Schools Facebook page,  Superintendent Brian Bobbitt explained the hard decision:

In response to the recent positive COVID-19 test within the football team and after conferring with the health department new Boston ISD will be canceling high school football games for September 11 and September 18 this decision was not lightly made and it pains me to type these words. I understand how important extracurricular activities are to the school and the students. Because the randomness of those that have tested positive and in the inability to closely trace those in close contact with the students that were positive, the decision has been made to take a break and resume activities on September 21. The goal is to take this opportunity to create some separation within the players in the program now and be ready for our district schedule.
