Arkansas was once known as the Bear State and even though we don't usually see many bears they are out and about. A few days ago Jonesboro police started receiving calls about people seeing a bear walking around town near a park.

The Jonesboro Police posted on their Facebook page and had some fun with puns...

We hate to be the BEARer of this news, but there have been at least five sightings of a black bear in south Jonesboro near Craighead Forest Park in the last 24 hours
How emBEARassing that this little guy is just looking for some KOALAty time with his friends, but can’t seem to find any FURever friends!

They did also remind people that they should not try to approach the bear if they see it and not feed it. They want to keep the public safe and the bear as well.

He was first spotted near Craighead Forest Park then he made his way north close to a Home Depot. He was last seen at St. Bernards Medical Center on Friday night (May 12).

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said that it is not unusual for bears to come closer to a town this time of year. They are looking for food. But people should not feed them. This way they will eventually go back deep into the woods.
