If you're into mystery and hauntings, Katrina Weidman and Jack Osbourne from their reality-based TV show, Portals to Hell, investigate the historic Malco Theatre in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas this Saturday, at 9 PM on the Travel Channel.

For years the Malco in historic Hot Springs has been shrouded in mystery long ago before opening its doors in 1946. Local magician Maxwell Blade who performed magic shows in the building from the early 90s until 2007, claims that the hauntings began in the 1880s when another magician known as Jerome Schemitar would bring a woman up on the stage from the audience for a disappearing act. Jerome performed the act and was able to make her disappear but was unable to bring her back. Reports today claim that a woman is seen in the basement looking for a way back.

In fact, when Maxwell Blade used to perform there, he would weave this story along with the history of the Malco into his magical acts. When I lived in Hot Springs during the 90s, I would go see his shows many times and do remember the story about the woman who disappeared. The theatre did give off a creepy vibe, and I always felt as if there were more spirits in there than just the guests.

So, the next time you're in Hot Springs make sure you go by the Malco Theatre at 817 Centra Avenue. The Malco Theatre is now the home of the annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in October.

Tune in this Saturday night for Portals to Hell at 9 PM on the Travel Channel to see if Katrina and Jack find the vanishing woman or some other entities haunting the theatre.

Here's a cool video that was done when the Malco was abandoned.

You can catch Maxwell Blade in a smaller venue in the 100 block of Central Avenue and this summer he will be performing at Magic Springs Theme and Water Park.
