Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs recommended the other day that we watch a video that features a narration from the late and world famous newsman, Paul Harvey, which is mixed with modern day photos. It's called "Policeman." I watched it and give it two thumbs up.

I grew up listening to Paul Harvey on WBAP in Dallas. His "News and Comment" and "Rest Of The Story" shows were some of the greatest radio ever produced. Harvey was a story teller. He could paint a picture in your head and made you feel like everything would turn out just fine in the end. He pronounced words so precisely sometimes it made you wonder if he was actually saying them wrong.

I'm sure he wasn't.

Harvey was a broadcaster on more than 1,200 radio stations and 400 Armed Forces stations around the world. His commentary was heard by millions of people every week and I considered him a giant influence in my life and eventual career.

Harvey stopped broadcasting February 28, 2009. The network he was on tried to keep the franchise alive but realized it wasn't going to work without him. "News and Comment" and the "Rest Of The Story" was cancelled within weeks of Harvey's death.

Oh, but you can still hear him from time to time, just a few years ago his narration called "God Made a Farmer" was featured in a RAM Trucks commercial for the Super Bowl, which is also posted below.

There's wasn't anyone before him, nor can I imagine there will be anyone after him that will equal the impact he had on this Nation, with just his words, his mind and his quirky and precise delivery. We miss you Paul Harvey.

Please watch the video called "Policeman" and feel free to share this with your friends. Remember these are the men and women who when trouble happens, they run toward it while the rest of us are running away. We need our police, we need them safe and I for one pledge to help them whenever I can. I hope you will, too.
