Downtown Texarkana will soon be home to Texarkana's first Micro-brew pub, get ready to welcome the Pecan Point Brewing Company!

Bill Scurlock and John Hubbard plan on opening the microbrew pub before summer 2014, at 213 Main Street next to the Perot Theater. The building was built in the early 1900's and is currently being used for storage by Tex/Rep. The partners plan on keeping the historic look of the old building, and feel that it will greatly enhance the charm of "Pecan Point".

Texas passed legislation in 2013 making it a little bit easier for people to open and operate a micro-brewery. The law allows microbrew pub owners brew their own recipes, and sell the beers that they make in house. Scurlock and Hubbard plan to only sell the beers they make, (NO "Coors Light" or other mass produced beers here), and the menu will offer a variety of brews, from Belgian recipes to English Stouts. There will be a main bar area of course, and there will be a lounge in a room off to the side with comfy couches and chairs where customers can really relax and enjoy some of the fine creations from Pecan Point Brewing Company.

Before renovations can begin on the building, it has to be cleaned out. So, Tex/Rep will be selling all of the stuff they have stored in the space. The sell will be open to the public and is scheduled for 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. February 22 and 23, 2014. For more information on the Tex/Rep sale call 903-831-7827.
