The Food and Drug Administration has just upgraded its classification of a broccoli recall as a "Class I" the most serious recall for Listeria monocytogenes.

An advisory was issued last December from a Texas Walmart for their Marketside Broccoli Florets, multiple samples were believed to contain Listeria monocytogenes. If consumed customers could become very ill and in some cases eating this product could be deadly if digested. Symptoms of listeria include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, loss of balance, confusion, and convulsions.

The FDA-updated recall of Marketside Broccoli Florets has been distributed in 20 Walmart stores nationwide including Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, to name a few. "Class I" means.

What Consumers Need To Do

Consumers are asked to throw away the affected product just to be safe. The product is the 12-ounce Marketside Broccoli Florets with best-of-date Dec. 10, 2024, with the code BFFG327A6. The FDA website says the recall and investigation are ongoing.

So far no illnesses have been reported, according to KARK-TV.
