Runners – Who’s Ready For The ‘Texarkana Beer Derby’?

Here you go runners and beer drinkers, this one is made for you, the first annual "Texarkana Beer Derby" at New Haven Golf Club this Saturday, July 14 starting at 5:30 PM.

Entry is $25 for runners and non-runners. Sign up at runsignup.com.

There will be draft beer specials, lots of food, and some terrific door prizes. Plus T-shirts and pint glasses to all participants.

Now the big question is; What in the wide world of sports in a beer derby? Your answer is it’s a one-mile run around the New Haven driving range. Every quarter mile, you stop and have a beer.

All proceeds benefit the "Stuff the Bus" school supply drive hosted by the United Way of Greater Texarkana.

Speaking of "Stuff The Bus!"

The Stuff the Bus school supply drive is underway for the ninth year in a row. If you can help, please drop off school supplies at participating businesses now through Friday, July 20.

Businesses include: Bank of the Ozarks; Collom & Carney Clinic; Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana and Atlanta; Healthcare Express and the Leadership Academy; LifeNet; Mayo Manufacturing; Red River Federal Credit Union, Shelter Insurance and Servpro; and Texas A&M University – Texarkana; Texarkana Arkansas ISD; Texarkana College, and Texana Bank.

If you have a business and would like to be a drop off location please contact the  United Way office.

Supplies needed include your basic school supplies: backpacks, pencils, pencil sharpeners, markers, highlighters, paper and pens, glue, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc.
