If you have onions in your refrigerator you better just throw them out now. There is a huge Salmonella outbreak in 37 states including Arkansas and Texas.

These onions, according to a press release from the CDC:

Fresh whole red, white, and yellow onions imported from the State of Chihuahua, Mexico and distributed by ProSource Produce LLC and Keeler Family Farms

 

Over 600 Illnesses & 129 Hospitalizations

The problem is if you are not sure where your onions came from then you need to just throw them out. There have been 652 cases of Salmonella and 129 hospitalizations.

How do I Know If I Have These Bad Onions?

These onions were delivered to grocery stores all across the U.S. Officials are advising you to not buy any onions that are from the State of Chihuahua and are distributed by ProSource and Keeler Family Farms. They are looking into other distributors as well.  And of course to be on the safe side to just go ahead and throw away any onions you have at your house. These onions were distributed between July 1, 2021, and August 31, 2021But since onions last forever, you could easily have them in your refrigerator so please throw them out!

What Are The Symptoms of Salmonella?

Symptoms of a Salmonella according to the CDC are:

Diarrhea, a fever and stomach cramps.

Symptoms usually start 6 hours to 6 days after swallowing the bacteria.

 

Most people recover without treatment after 4 to 7 days.
