With the deadline to return Angel Tree gifts fast approaching, the Salvation Army of Texarkana reports that some "angels" – local children in need – have yet to be adopted. The last day for adoptions is Saturday, December 7.

“We still have angel tags on the trees and are praying they’ll all be taken before the deadline,” said Captain Clara Gomez of the Salvation Army of Texarkana. She added that staff and volunteers are prepared to assist last-minute donors at Angel Tree locations.

The Angel Tree program serves 650 children in the area, with distribution day set for Saturday, December 14. Donors can adopt an angel by selecting a tag, shopping for gifts, and returning them to designated locations by December 7.

For those unable to shop in person, gifts can be purchased through the Walmart Angel Tree online registry at www.walmartangeltree.com. Items bought online are delivered directly to the Salvation Army, helping ensure no child is left out. “This option is especially helpful for fulfilling requests for forgotten angels,” said Captain Gomez, expressing gratitude for Walmart’s support.

Volunteers are still needed to support the program. For information on volunteering, adopting an angel, or other Christmas programs, visit southernusa.salvationarmy.org/texarkana or call 870-774-2701.
