Southern Arkansas University’s Theatre Department will entertain audiences with its production of “Little Women,” the timeless story of Louisa May Alcott, November 20-24, 2019, at Harton Theatre. 

Filled with glorious music, personal discovery, and everlasting love, “Little Women” follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested. Her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to write more from her own experience. Reluctantly taking this advice, Jo weaves together her own story and that of her sisters with growing up during the Civil War.

The play is directed by Brittany Bara, with Wally Eastland providing scenic design, under the musical direction of Michael Womack. The cast includes Amber Gant as Jo March; Lizzie McKee as Beth March; Hannah Sullivan as Meg March; Laiken Newton as Amy March; Emma Walker as Marmee; Jazz VanAssche as Aunt March; Joey Kaar as Laurie; Bodee Starr as Professor Bhaer; Caleb Russette as Mr. Brooke; Kayleigh McCoy as Mrs. Kirk, and Dr. Dave Ekstrum as Mr. Laurence.

“Little Women” embodies the complete theatrical experience, guaranteeing a night filled with laughter and tears. The powerful score by Alan Knee soars with the sounds of a young America finding its voice. “We hope you can join us for this wonderful holiday story,” said Bara.

According to the Press Release, the nightly shows, Wednesday-Saturday, will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Saturday-Sunday matinees, on November 23 and November 24, begin at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door, online at www.showtix4u.com, or by calling (870) 235-4255.
