It's about that time again for the second annual "Beauty and the Badge," an all-male law enforcement beauty pageant fundraiser for the "Pink Behind the Thin Blue Line," on Friday, April, 13, at the Elks Lodge 4701 Garland Ave. Doors open at 5:30 and the show begins at 6:30PM.

This fun filled evening will feature some of our local male law enforcement officials dressed up like beauty queens from head to toe. Last year was the first time for this event and it was such a hit that the non-profit organization "Pink Behind the Thin Blue Line" decided to make it an annual event.

"Being asked to emcee the event for a second time is a huge honor, being able to help a great cause and support our local police, is all worth it."

Officers from Miller County Sheriff's Office, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and Bowie County Sheriff's Office will be represented in this pageant. Local comedian Derrick Keener will join me for some off the cuff humor about our beauty contestants.

Watching some of the police dressed up as beauty contestants strutting across the stage in high heels and dresses was priceless. Of course, I thought some of the officers liked it a little too much.  I'm sure before the night is up there will be a few laws broken -- or heels broken -- for that matter. Talk about going undercover!

There will also be a baked potato dinner for $10, silent auction, 50.50 raffle, cash bar, door prizes and other entertainment that will keep the crowd pleased.

No tickets will be sold -- only donations at the door. All of the proceeds from the door donations will benefit local law enforcement families and several local police officers including Officer Eric McMillan, Lt. Billy Bohannan, Det. Jason and Stephanie Haak.

About Pink Behind the Thin Blue Line

Pink Behind the Thin Blue Line is a local non-profit organization. It's a group is made up of Law Enforcement families, as well as community members, who want to show support to our officers and help them in their efforts of building community relations. Pink has been involved in a number of local events aimed at bringing officers and citizens together for fun, prayer and appreciation of each other. The organization has also helped our officers help community members who are in need; such as purchasing beds, bicycles and basketball goals for our officers to give to families. They also provide a helping hand to our LEO families who have fallen on hard times, which is one of the purposes of this pageant.
