Shop With a Cop Provides For Children in Need
It's that time of year again, on Tuesday, December 9 the annual Shop with a Cop will take place in Texarkana. This event involves area police officers and firefighters meeting at the Bi-State Center at 8:30 a.m. and convoy to Wal-Mart at 133 Arkansas Blvd with arrival at approximately 9 a.m. Once there, each officer will be paired with a child in need from our immediate area. Each child will be given $100 in order to do their Christmas shopping at the store.
From my observation the children really love shopping with the cops and firefighters and love picking out something special for Christmas. I've seen some kids use the money on their brothers and sisters and even their parents instead of buying a gift for themselves.
This highly anticipated annual event is held each year to assist local children who may not otherwise have a Merry Christmas. This event is funded through proceeds from the annual Ed Worrell Memorial Tournament and several donations provided by local businesses as well as generous private citizens.
