Late this weekend, Southwest Arkansas will get its first real taste of winter. According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is expected to move through the region late Saturday afternoon, bringing freezing or near-freezing temperatures to much of the state. Boot season will officially be here!

The northern parts of Arkansas will feel the chill first, with overnight lows dipping into the low 30s Saturday night and Monday’s highs only reaching the mid to upper 40s. Here in Southwest Arkansas, Texarkana, the cooler temperatures are expected to settle in by Sunday, with lows Sunday night in the mid-30s and Monday’s highs only in the mid-50s.

Now’s the time to start preparing, especially for your pets and plants.
