ASCS Sprint Cars Return to Texarkana 67 Speedway This Saturday
Texarkana 67 Speedway is gearing up for a big night of racing this Saturday, June 7, as the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) rolls into town for its first appearance of the season. Saturday night's race marks the 13th time the national 360 Sprint Car tour has stopped at the Texarkana quarter-mile track.
At stake: a $4,000 payday for the feature winner!
The evening will also include action from the Mod Lites of Arkansas and the local Sportster division. Pit gates open at 3 PM, grandstand gates at 5 PM, and Hot Laps kick off at 7!
Five-time ASCS champion Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Sunnyvale, Texas, leads the storylines coming into the weekend. Fresh off his 80th career Series win, Hafertepe is chasing Gary Wright’s all-time record of 128. He won last year’s race at Texarkana and has four top-10 finishes in six appearances at the track.
Arkansas native Jordon Mallett, from Greenbrier, is back on the full-time tour this year and looking to improve on his past Texarkana outings, with a previous best of sixth place.
Also in the mix is Matt Covington of Glenpool, Oklahoma, who’s currently second in national points behind Hafertepe. Covington has nine career starts at the track and one regional win in 2012. Last year, he finished third after charging up from ninth.
Rounding out the list of drivers to watch is Austyn Gossel of Fort Collins, Colorado, who just notched his first national podium with a runner-up finish last weekend and hopes to build momentum in Texarkana.
Advance tickets are available online, and can also be purchased at the gate. Can’t make it to the track? You can stream all the action live on DIRTVision.
