St. Jude Weekend Started Off Great With A Visit To Sun Studios
Last weekend Mario Garcia and I left on Thursday for Memphis, Tenn., for the annual St. Jude Radio Cares weekend radio station seminar that's held every year before the actual Radiothon takes place.
This is our opportunity to learn about the latest progress in the war against childhood cancer, new treatments and research, meet the doctors and patients and have a little fun too.
Speaking of fun, Mario and I always have a good time when we're out goofing around and this day was no different. We made good travel time getting to Memphis and since we had the extra time, Mario asked me if I had ever toured the world famous Sun Studios. I had not.
Mario said, "Let's go when we get there."
Below is the result of that and the photos will let you see some of what's on the inside of Sun Studios. If you're a musician, rock, blues or country music history buff, this is one of the places that should absolutely be on your bucket list. Check one off mine. Worth every penny I might add.
One correction before we start the video. In the picture of Elvis on the side of the building I mistakenly called the other three gentlemen with him in that shot the Jordanaires. I could not have been more wrong. That shot is known as the Million Dollar Quartet, if you unfocus on the King for just a second, you might notice the other three gentlemen are actually (r-l) Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. My bad.
