Looks like a long-anticipated project is finally making its way to Texarkana, on both sides. The upgrade of State Line Ave. is in the planning stages, and a public meeting is taking place this Thursday for those interested.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will host a public involvement meeting this Thursday, August 7, to discuss plans for the upcoming Stateline Corridor Project. The meeting will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Beech Street First Baptist Church’s Family Activity Center, located at 507 Pecan Street in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The Stateline Corridor Project is a joint effort between ARDOT, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and both cities of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Texarkana, Texas. The project aims to upgrade one of the region’s most recognizable thoroughfares through a series of improvements focused on safety, infrastructure, and accessibility.

Planned upgrades include roadway restoration, improved drainage systems, and enhanced pedestrian access through upgraded sidewalks and shared-use paths.

Residents attending the meeting will have an opportunity to view preliminary designs, review project materials, and ask questions about the proposed changes. An informational video and additional resources are also available on the ARDOT website.

Construction on the Stateline Corridor is expected to begin in early 2028; however, this timeline may shift as the project progresses.

Local and state officials are encouraging the public to get involved as this long-planned project begins moving toward construction.
