Texarkana Traffic: Westbound I-30 Leary Exit Closed For 6 Months
If you travel often westbound on I-30 btween Texarkana and New Boston, and you like to exit at Leary, fuel up at the Love's or McDonalds, or both, you're going to have to take analternate route to get to it for the next six months. That off ramp to FM 2253 (Leary exit) is going to be closed starting Tuesday, May 6.
According to a release from TxDOT, the work to rehabilitate the westbound exit and entrance ramps on Interstate 30 at Leary/FM 2253 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Beginning sometime that day, I-30 westbound Exit 213 will be closed. FM 2253 and Shiloh Road will remain open during the work.
If you need to access FM 2253, westbound interstate traffic can continue west and use Exit 212/Spur 74 (Lone Star Dr), turn left over the bridge , then turn left (east) on U.S. Highway 82 to return to FM 2253.
The main lanes of I-30 westbound in this area will be restricted down to one lane during this same time/work period. The total work scheduled is expected to take about 6 months.
Eastbound entrance and exit ramps to and from Leary/FM 2253 will remain open.
According to the release, message boards directing motorists are in place. Weather and other unforeseen construction issues can impact work schedules.
TxDOT urges Texans to slow down, stay alert and obey posted signage when driving through road construction or maintenance areas.
