Texarkana PD Lateral Entry: Credit Up to 10 Years Experience

Here's some great news! The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is making it easier for experienced law enforcement officers to join the department without starting at the bottom of the pay scale.

TAPD has expanded its lateral entry program, allowing qualified certified officers to receive salary credit for up to 10 years of prior law enforcement experience. Previously, officers could receive credit for up to five years.

The change means experienced officers can start at a salary level that better reflects the years they've already spent serving in law enforcement.

Texarkana, Arkansas Police Offering Competitive Pay and Benefits

Under the expanded pay scale, starting salaries range from $61,402 for entry-level officers to more than $72,000 for officers with 10 years of recognized experience. Those figures include holiday pay.

In addition to competitive salaries, Texarkana Arkansas PD offers 11-hour shifts, two weekends off each month, four to five consecutive days off, take-home patrol vehicles on workdays, insurance benefits, overtime opportunities, and retirement through LOPFI with a city contribution.

Texarkana is Looking for Experienced Officers

TAPD said in a press release that the expanded program is part of its ongoing effort to recruit and retain experienced officers in a competitive hiring environment.
