Today, June 14, is Flag Day! It was June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress adopted the "Stars and Stripes" as the original American flag.

What is Flag Day?

When the Declaration of Independence was signed the same flag was used to give a flag for the entire country rather than each state having its own. Even though Flag Day played a big part in American history it's not considered a national holiday. The day commemorates the first time the flag was used in 1777 and helps celebrate when Congress approved the design of our first American flag.

The guys at FreeBets.com thought it would be interesting to find out which state flags are the most memorable other than the U.S. flag.

Analyzing results from Sporcle’s “US State Flags Quiz” participants were given 10 minutes to name all 50 flags from an image, these were the results:

California

The State Flag of California was the most recognizable at 88.8 percent and ranked #1
