Texas DPS Increases Reward of Fugitive to $8500 – Texas Most Wanted
The Texas Department of Public Safety has increased the reward for a man on the Most Wanted list during the month of March, time is running out and they want this guy back in custody.
James Mark Bishop, 49, is on the Texas Most Wanted list accused of Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child not to mention skipping bond. Bishop is wanted in Tulia, Texas, also in Texas County, Oklahoma, with warrants issued by the County Sheriff's Office there.
Bishop was working as a Texas County sheriff’s deputy in Oklahoma when he was arrested and subsequently convicted of five counts of Knowingly Downloading Child Pornography in 2007. He served time in prison until his release in 2011, at which time he was placed on probation and moved to Tulia, Texas. In 2020, BISHOP was arrested in Tulia for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact after alleged incidents involving a 12-year-old girl. He bonded out and eventually absconded. On July 7, 2021, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma issued Motion to Revoke warrants regarding BISHOP’s probation for the five counts of Knowingly Downloading Child Pornography. Additionally, on July 28, 2021, the Tulia Police Department issued two felony warrants for BISHOP's arrest for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child.

Bishop, of Tulia, Texas, has been wanted since July 2021, when the Tulia Police Department issued two warrants for continuous sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. Since then, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma issued a warrant to revoke Bishop’s probation for five counts of knowingly downloading child pornography.
Bishop was a deputy with the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, where, in 2005 he was arrested for sexual exploitation of a child. He was convicted in 2007 on five counts of knowingly downloading child pornography. Bishop was released from prison in 2011 and immediately placed on probation. Bishop then moved to Tulia, Texas. Bishop was arrested in Tulia in 2020 for continuous sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact, both incidents involving a 12-year-old girl.
Bishop was added to the DPS Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List on Oct. 19, 2021.
Bishop is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 245 pounds. He is trained in martial arts and might be using false IDs.

Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders. So far in 2022, DPS and other agencies have arrested 12 people off the lists, including four gang members and seven sex offenders. $32,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that yielded arrests.
To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters MUST provide information to authorities using one of the following three methods:
- Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
- Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about then clicking on the link under their picture.
- Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
All tips are anonymous, regardless of how they are submitted, and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
