Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced a new 10-year transportation plan that represents more than $146 billion in projected investments for roadways all across the state. This plan, which was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission as part of the 2026 Unified Transportation Program (UTP), aims to address Texas' population growth, will help ease traffic congestion, and improve safety.

A Record Investment in Texas Roads

Governor Abbott said in a press release,

This more than $146 billion investment in our roadways will help Texas meet the critical needs of our growing state as more people and businesses move here for the freedom and opportunity they can’t find anywhere else.

Billions Allocated for Growth and Maintenance in Texas

The plan includes $101.6 billion for specific projects over the next decade. This marks the third consecutive year the UTP has topped $100 billion. Nearly $45 billion more is designated for planning, development, and routine maintenance.
