This past Saturday my husband and I had a fun adventure. Did you know there is a Britsh bakery in Linden, Texas? There is! My husband John is British so when he found out about it, it was time for a road trip. John figured if we were to go on this little road trip we needed to do it right, in a British vehicle.

John is a member of the Four States British Motor Club in Texarkana. This past Saturday several club members got together and we made a day of it. We convoyed our British vehicles to Linden to check out the Gingerbread House. John and I were in Land Rovers while other members of the club were in MGs and a Triumph. A few others met us in Linden with another Land Rover and a Mini Cooper.

It was such a wonderful sight to see as the town of Linden, Texas rolled out the red carpet for us. The Linden Area Chamber of Commerce was there to take photos of us arriving and there were even little British flags roped around the downtown square.

The Gingerbread House is in downtown Linden and owned by Leesa Carter, John  Barrow and his wife Donna. All of us from the club gathered in the Gingerbread House for a pot of hot tea and scones with homemade English clotted cream and raspberry jam. Then we had to taste the meat pies, sausage rolls and scotch eggs. I had never had a scotch egg before and oh my! It's a hard-boiled egg with sausage meat wrapped around it then it's dipped in breadcrumbs and fried.

Most importantly we made a lot of new friends this weekend and we all can't wait to go back!
