Arkansas Hole-In-The-Wall Breakfast One Of Best In The US
Are you planning a trip to or around Arkansas? Have I got a destination for you? This General Store is the oldest in Arkansas and more than one report says it's the absolute best hole-in-the-wall breakfast in the state. One warning though, it's in the middle of nowhere. But to me, that's a good thing.
Welcome to Oark, Arkansas, according to the 2020 Census, the population is 43, our guess is a quarter of them work at our destination, the Oark General Store.
Oark, by the way, is pronounced Oh-Ark, not Ork. Thanks very much to Blue Line Overland for allowing me to use their photo above.
The Oark General Store has been selling gas, food, and supplies since it opened its doors in 1890, making it the oldest continuously operating general store in the state of Arkansas.
According to a list published on MSN.com the Oark General Store is one of the Top 50 "Hole-In-The-Wall' breakfasts in the entire United States.
I've also seen several videos now on YouTube.com, and everyone seems to love the burger baskets as well. Boy, that looks tasty.
I'm telling you right now, these pies look jaw-dropping.
The Oark General Store is located about 25 miles (as the crow flies) Northwest of Clarksville, AR, or about 50 miles Northeast of Fort Smith. It's an absolutely beautiful part of the state and if you have never been there, you need to go. Be sure you bring a sticker and leave it somewhere, on a pas pump or side of the store with the other stickers. Check out more about the Oark General Store on their Facebook Page.
Thanks to YouTuber Stafford Shurden and his daughter for running the roads of Arkansas and the video below, these pics are making me hungry, not just for the food, but a great road trip in the Spring. A road trip that promises to include a peaceful little town in the Ozarks with no cell service and a great little store and restaurant called the Oark General Store.
Maybe we'll see you there.
