The Ark-La-Tex Could Use Some Help Spotting Scams
Maybe in the south, we just like to assume the good in others...
With the rise of the technological world, it seems like there is a rise in scams and fraud. It feels like with more technology around us, more dishonest people use that very same technology to scam innocent people out of their money. On the other side of that coin, we should have more resources at our disposal to protect ourselves.
That doesn't mean we don't still fall for these scams.
Truth be told, some states fall harder and more often than others. Your Local Security recently looked at scams across the nation and found which states are the worst and the best for sniffing out something that doesn't seem kosher. They also found that the most common scams across the nation are debt collection, imposter scams, and identity theft.
So who has the most incidents of fraud?
Florida takes the cake here. They were followed by Georgia, Nevada, Delaware and Michigan. Texas was just outside of the top five coming in at number six. Louisiana found themselves in the top 20 at number 16 with Arkansas landing at number 35. That means that Arkansas is the best in our region when it comes to protecting themselves from fraud.
All of this just reminds me why I never answer my phone...
