Arkansas is a beautiful state but like all states, it comes with the good and the bad. Arkansas has loads of great towns but if you ask the FBI they might see some towns a little differently.

Road Snacks took the FBI crime statics for towns in Arkansas and compiled a list of the most dangerous by the number of violent crimes and property crimes each town experienced. What towns made the list? Luckily for us in Texarkana, we didn't make the top ten list, but there are some towns that aren't too far away from us that did. The top ten towns are scattered all across the state. It will be interesting to see if this list changes over the next few years but for now, here are the Top Ten Most Dangerous Towns in Arkansas:

10. Hot Springs

Even though this great town made the list, it's still a safe place to visit. I love staying at the Arlington Hotel. This town makes the list for its high property crimes. So if you live here, put your stuff away and lock the doors.

9.  Paragould

. Located in Northeast Arkansas. This one also has a high property crime rate but according to Roadsnacks.net, they are bringing their violent crimes down a lot. Good job!

8. Jacksonville

This is a suburb of Little Rock, at least it has more property crimes than violent crimes. If you live here you have more of a chance of property theft, by the way, that includes cars so lock your doors when you leave your car even if for only a minute or two.

7. Fort Smith

It was just announced that a big movie studio facility will be built in this area. I guess the big Hollywood types will have to hold on to their plastic (credit cards) while out and about in this town.

6. Newport

Oops! This one is on the list for getting a much higher violent crime rate than last year when it wasn't even in the top 10. Newport jumped 7 spots in the wrong direction. Let's hope they can turn that around soon.

5. Osceola

This is a small town with under 7,000 people but it's dangerous. Roadsnack.net says you have a 1 in 38 chance of being a victim of rape, murder, or aggravated assault.

4. El Dorado

Wait, what? This is such a cute and sweet town and it's not far from Texarkana. They have a great music festival every year too. Well, if you go here just make sure of your surroundings and hold on to your purse.

3. West Memphis

Not really a big surprise since Memphis Tenn. is just over the river and we know that one is pretty dangerous. Fun but dangerous.

2. Helena-West Helena

For as small as this town is, with a population of only about 10,000, this town sure had a lot of crime reported back in 2019. Roadsnacks.net reports the FBI stats were 11 murders and 187 violent crimes. Yikes!

1. Little Rock

Well, you knew that was gonna happen. What capital city doesn't have a lot of crime? But it's a pretty town and the most expensive town to live in in the state of Arkansas.
