Student members of the Texas High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Chapter earned top awards and qualified for the state level competition.

The qualification happened during the Regional Leadership Conference held on January 16. Six students earned State Qualifier classification and will compete in the State competition March 2 - 5 in Corpus Christi, TX.

They are:

Odin Contreras – 1st Place – Digital Media Production;

Evan Carr – 3rd Place – Fundamentals of Web Design;

Mason Shoalmire – 3rd Place – C# Programming;

Courtney Anderson – 4th Place – Database Applications;

Jonathan Birl – 4th Place – Banking & Finance.

De’Aja Koontz took 5th Place in Human Resource Management and will serve as a State Alternate.

Odin Contreras was elected to serve as Regional President for the Area 1, Region 3 BPA Chapter and will represent Texas High School at both the State and National conferences.

Additionally, Texas High School received the Texas BPA Cares Regional Award as Top Contributor for their work with Special Olympics and member Blaire Berry will be filing to run for a state office position.

The mission of Business Professionals of America is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.
