Traffic Violation Turns into Drug Charges For Man From Maud, Texas
The Bowie County Sheriff's Office has made another drug arrest. According to their press release, on the evening of April 23, 2018, Deputy Shawn Martin stopped a black Ford truck for a traffic violation.
The driver of the truck was identified as Tonnie Lane Summerlin. Deputy Martin noticed that Summerlin was very nervous to the point he was sweating when there was no an apparent reason for him to be sweating. Summerlin granted consent for Deputy Martin to search his truck. Lieutenant Chris Allison and Captain Robby McCarver arrived to assist Deputy Martin and stood with Summerlin while his vehicle was searched.
Deputy Martin located methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) gummy in this truck. Summerlin was arrested for allegedly possessing these narcotics and transported to the Bi-State Jail by Deputy Martin. Lieutenant Allison and Captain McCarver drove to Summerlin’s address on Broadway Street in Maud, Texas. There they met with Summerlin’s girlfriend who allowed them to search the residence. Additional methamphetamine and marijuana were recovered from this location. A total of 109 grams of methamphetamine and 12 grams of cocaine were recovered along with $1,755 in cash.
Summerlin was booked into the Bi-State Jail for:
- Two charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams.
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 400 Grams.
- Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.
Summerlin was still in custody at the time of this release. His bonds have been set at $75,000.00 for each charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams, $10,000.00 for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 400 Grams and $5,000.00 for Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.
