Two Unexplained Mysteries in Arkansas That Remain Today
Every year around this time people flock to these small Arkansas towns to see if they can catch a glimpse at two of the most unexplained mysteries in the state.
👻The Gurdon Light
👻The Crossett Light
👻Unexplained Mystery
The Gurdon Light and the Crossett Light both have similar stories where witnesses report seeing a glowing white light along a stretch of railroad tracks. The story is eerily the same people see the light from a distance as they are walking down the railroad track and as they get closer to the light it disappears into the woods and then reappears behind them further down the track. Call it what you want, a ghost light, an orb, or a rare strange paranormal phenomenon, in Europe, they are called will-o-the-wisps or ghost lights.
Other states across the country have the same unexplained occurrence but the myth or the legend are all pretty much the same. In Gurdon, the ghostly light was first spotted in the 1930s, the story is about the gruesome death of a railroad foreman who was working at night and was hit by a train that decapitated him, the light you see is supposedly a lantern of the railroad worker looking for his head. The other story is similar but the light you see is a lantern his wife is carrying searching for her husband's body. Depending on who you talk with the stories may vary a little bit from person to person but seeing the light is no joke.
Several other states with similar stories like the Gurdon Light and the Crossett Light in Arkansas have become popular for their paranormal folklore.
October and Halloween are the most popular times for venturing out to Gurdon or Crossett to see if you can see anything. Many paranormal shows have covered these stories to debunk them but to no avail have had any luck.
Some scientists have also given their professional opinion of what they think causes it but for now, the mystery remains one of 10 Unexplained Mysteries in Arkansas.
