Unfortunately Arkansas Is Not One Of the Most Friendliest States
What states are the most friendly in the United States? How does the natural state Arkansas fair on this list of the friendliest states?
If you are from the South like I am you have always been told that folks from this area are friendly. Definitely friendlier than people from the North, but is that really true. I found a story on the friendliest states and of course, I had to see how all of the states n the South faired. Some states in this story from Big Event Travel, it was not surprising with New York being most unfriendly:
New York is in 50th place yes that's last in the friendliest cities in the United States.
Locals might seem a bit gruff at first (even upstate!), but it’s a melting pot of many cultures and the neighborhoods in each borough of NYC have a community feel if you manage to stick it out for long enough. Just don’t dawdle on the sidewalk or hold up traffic taking Instagram shots.
Texas comes in as the 4th friendliest state in the United States.
Texas’ enthusiastic locals and greetings of ‘Howdy!’ everywhere you go have surely helped it secure its place among the friendliest states in America. Its large cities are boosted with small town vibes from locals, who will welcome you with open arms.
So where exactly does Arkansas place on this list? This may be hard to swallow but Arkansas did poorly on this list.
Arkansas is number 49 on this list. Only New York is worse. This is what the story had to say about Arkansas:
Arkansas is a friendly state if – and emphasis on if – you’re local. While that’s all well and good for Arkansas residents and their good neighborly vibes, it can mean that visitors might feel like they don’t quite fit in and are unwelcome.
Having lived in Arkansas for over 20 years I kinda understand where they are coming from. In terms of other Southerners visiting the state, they will welcome you with open arms. But if you are from other areas, the North, or even another country it may not seem so friendly. But in our defense, we get judged sometimes by people from outside our area as typical southern folks.
Oh, guess what state was number one? Minnesota. This is what they had to say about the number one state on the list.
Minnesota takes top spot, thanks to its extraordinarily friendly residents. It’s called ‘Minnesota Nice’ for a reason – the atmosphere in the Twin Cities and beyond is hard to match, with a homey feel and locals who go the extra mile to welcome tourists.
What do you think about this list? It was put together by people that are not from our area and may not know about our Southern Charm. Would you visit any of the cities on this list of the 50 friendliest cities in the United States?
