Sacred Harp singing is a form of singing that was developed in the 19th century to teach people how to sing. The singing is all done acapella without the use of musical instruments. It is a unique singing style that is still practiced throughout the South. It is very likely that it was practiced in the Ark-La-Tex region around in the early 19th century by different church groups.
