Watch For Detours in Texarkana as I-30 Widening Project Continues
Texarkana is seeing more construction work and growing pains as the widening of the I-30 project continues. The traffic pattern changed on Tuesday, December 19 at FM 2148 North and the North Frontage Road (Hampton Road) from FM 989 to the west.
Please drive carefully as construction crews will be working in these areas.
According to a press release from TxDOT,
During this phase of work, commuters will not be able to access FM 2148 from the North Frontage Road (Hampton Road). Detour signs will be in place directing commuters to use FM 989, US 82 and FM 3419 to access FM 2148 North and FM 2148 South. The North Frontage Road (Hampton Road) will be open for access to local businesses.
Also, please be aware that at times the North Frontage Road (Hampton Road) will bring traffic down to one-lane and one-way operations. These areas will have flaggers to direct traffic safely.
These crews will be working daytime hours and will more than likely try to have the road back open to two-way traffic by the end of each day
The map below shows where the road is close and where the detours are located.
While driving in this area use caution and practice patience to watch for road crews. You can expect delays so please make adjustments to your schedule. Of course, work is subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
Fortunately, all this construction will not affect I-30 traffic.
Just keep reminding yourself that when this project is done, it will be great and so worth the growing pains!
