State Wildlife officials with the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park are baffled by an elusive animal that was captured on a trail camera roaming through the woods at night.

In a Facebook post yesterday April 6, park officials have no idea what kind of animal it could be. The photo shows a large-bodied animal with four legs roaming around the Rio Grande Valley.

People on social media have already started commenting on what they think it is one person said, badger. Hard to tell in the picture but it looks much larger and I don't see any stripes on its face, of course, it's dark and hard to tell.

Some folks say it's some type of a hybrid opossum crossed with a raccoon. And the best one yet, the legendary folklore creature Chupacabra.

Park officials will continue to investigate the mysterious animal sighting.

Let me just say, I looked at the photo, and to me, it looks like a Wolverine.

However, wolverines are more native to mainly the northern states. Wolverines have a long bushy tail but the way the picture was shot you can't really see the tail like the one above. Wolverines are considered very aggressive and dangerous animals.
