When Can We Expect to See Beautiful Fall Foliage in Arkansas?
The temperatures are finally starting to drop. It's been a hot summer so everyone is ready for the cooler weather of fall and with that cooler weather comes the beautiful colors of all the change foliage in Arkansas. But when can we expect to see all the beautiful colors?
We found two great sources, one from the state of Arkansas and another source that shows an interactive map of the whole country. It's amazing how both sources are so close in their predictions.
According to ArkansasStateParks.com
Northern Arkansas, Ozarks: Colors start to change in late September or early October. The peak color is in late October.
Central Arkansas and West-Central Arkansas, Ouachita Mountain Range: Trees changing color will be noticeable by early to mid-October. Peak color is typically late October or early November.
Southern and Eastern Arkansas: Leaves begin changing color during mid-October. Peak color is early to mid-November.

Here's a great interactive tool below that predicts the fall colors across the nation from SmokyMountains.com. They looked at historical temperatures, precipitation, and future forecasts of temperatures and precipitation. Plus the types of trees in the areas, and more. They can't predict the future forecast with 100% but they have an excellent track record for almost a decade. This year they are adding a forum where we can add real-time photos that will help the study for future years.
