The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) says its State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) remains activated as response and recovery efforts continue following last week’s winter storm.

Two Arkansas Deaths Confirmed So far

Arkansas officials have confirmed two storm-related fatalities, both involving ATV accidents:

  • A 40-year-old man near Hope
  • A 17-year-old in Saline County.
  • Eight injuries have also been reported, including three in Columbia County, one in Cleburne County, and four in Saline County.

Ahead of the storm, 27 counties declared local emergencies in anticipation of snow, ice, and prolonged freezing temperatures. ADEM continues to coordinate closely with county emergency managers, local officials, and partner agencies to assess damage and support ongoing response efforts.

Arkansas Damage Reports and Assessments Ongoing

Preliminary damage reports indicate several structures were damaged or collapsed due to heavy ice accumulation and extended freezing conditions. Affected structures include marinas, agricultural facilities, and commercial and government buildings. ADEM personnel are compiling reports statewide and working with impacted counties to verify damage and determine eligibility for potential disaster assistance.
