Special Olympics Arkansas has returned with the new theme “Back at It” for the 2021 Summer Games. The 2021 festivities will kick off with the Law Enforcement Torch Run on Monday, June 14.

It's only appropriate that this kicks off on Flag Day as officers from all over the state will be carrying a torch called the “Flame of Hope” in several Arkansas cities. The iconic flame will make its way to the steps of the Arkansas Capitol on Thursday, June 17, at 9:30 AM where four flames from all corners of the state will come together to form the final leg torch. Officers along with law enforcement officials will then proceed to Searcy to run the "Flame of Hope" in the Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Spectators, volunteers, and competitors will notice a few changes this year to accommodate safety measures.

Each year a different route is established for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and this year the closest to Texarkana looks to be DeQueen, Arkansas on Monday, June 14, 9 AM. And then on Tuesday, June 15, 9 AM in Hope, and 10:30 AM in Prescott.

Fans are invited to line the streets in their perspective cities and cheer on the Flame of Hope. The Torch Arrival Celebration will be no longer than 20 minutes in length.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Arkansas engages law enforcement statewide championing acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, starting first with their own communities. Arkansas members host over 100 fundraising events year-round and consistently rank in the emerald level of excellence raising over $500,000 each year since 2010 for Special Olympics Arkansas athletes.
