National Donut Day June 6: Texarkana’s Favorite Local Donut Shops and Deals

National Donut Day is on Friday, June 6, 2025. When I was growing up in Texarkana years ago, there weren't many donut shops around. When I think about it, we had Shorty's Southern Maid Donuts, which was on Lake Drive, and Shipley Donuts, and that was pretty much it.

Now, when you look around the Texarkana area, there seems to be a donut shop on every corner. According to Yelp, there are 26 donut shops in the Texarkana area. Let's take a look at some of Texarkana's local favorites and sweet deals for National Donut Day.

Shorty's Donuts and Diner

Shorty's has been an icon for decades now, located in Oaklawn Village. Shorty's is famous for its Southern Maid donuts, baked goods, pastries, and a delicious southern-style breakfast. This is where the locals meet to visit, reminisce, and tell stories. Stick around long enough and you'll find out everything going on in Texarkana.

Shipley Donuts

Shipley Donuts can be found nationwide today, but back in the day, it was the place to go for freshly made donuts. Today, you'll find the same friendly service on Jefferson Avenue. Dandy Donuts

Dandy Donuts on Texas Boulevard became one of my mother's favorite places to go. She loved her coffee and donuts in the morning, and their donuts are melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Yummy's Donut Palace

Yummy's is another Texarkana favorite at the corner of East 7th and Hickory Street in the old Pancake House location, if you grew up in Texarkana in the 70s. Their name says it all; all their donuts, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches are made fresh daily, and the kolaches are out of this world.

The Donut Cafe and Coffee House

The Donut Cafe and Coffee Shop on Richmond has become a Texarkana favorite for years, featuring the tastiest donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and great coffee.

Dunkin' Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts in Nash is a national chain, but they have the best cream-filled donuts, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and hot and cold coffee around. Stop by Dunkin' on National Donut Day and you can get a free classic donut with any beverage purchase at participating Dunkin' locations nationwide on June 6.

About National Donut Day

National Donut Day was established in 1938 as a way to honor members of the Salvation Army who came to the frontlines to provide meals for soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day is now celebrated on the first Friday in June. Many donut shops across the U.S. participate in giving away free donuts on this day.
