A Great Crowd Turned Out for Scout-A-Rama 2016
The Caddo Area Council and Diamond Girl Scouts of Arkansas hosted the annual Scout-A-Rama at Spring Lake Park this past Saturday, April 2, 2016. It was a fantastic day and the weather couldn't have been better.
There was plenty to see and do including lots of pioneering projects, cooking demonstrations, knot tying, canoeing, rope bridge activities, a soap box derby and even a traveling scouting museum that had a lot of artifacts and memorabilia. As I walked the grounds I saw some people who were showing off some 1840s pioneer techniques. And they even shot a real cannon.
I really enjoyed the Native American crafts and dances with the Texas Connection based out of Houston. And for the very first time at Scout-A-Rama there was a sanctioned chili cook-off that was done to raise money for additional scout activities. Later on that evening, they had a fireworks show as well.
Here are a few photos from the event.
